What do I actually do?

My brother (an emergency medicine doctor working predominantly in Africa) always asks what kinds of things I do in my workday. He can’t quite grasp where, or how, I spend my time, seeing as his time is measured in patients, cardiac arrests, knife wounds, charts, medicine doses….

Dr. Paul working in Northern Uganda

So, for the benefit of Dr. Paul and other great humans out there working in different (and very impactful) fields, here are some examples of what I do for the social impact organizations and non-profits we work with:

  • Leverage and perform research from a breadth of sources to truly understand the crux of specific social and environmental issues = this helps organizations target real change.

  • Identify innovative market opportunities that generate revenue whilst delivering positive returns for the environment and/or society = this ensures the sector stays profitable/has sustainable revenue streams.

  • Identify and build partnership between organizations that offer funding, amplification, product development and/or other opportunities = this helps drive forward progress beyond the bounds of a single organization.

  • Run workshops to help create clarity around organizational vision and goals, formulating this into public facing commitments = this ensures everyone is driving toward the change needed and others can see their map for a better world
