Dense Breasts Canada

The Challenge: As a volunteer-led awareness and advocacy organization dedicated to reducing the harrowing impact of breast cancer in Canada through optimal screening, DBC is limited in capacity to drive the change needed. DBC needed support and direction for strategic planning, research, awareness, advocacy, and partnerships.

Our Tools

Working closely with the Executive Director and Co-Founder of DBC, Victoria helped the organization to understand women’s experiences in breast cancer screening through a survey of 2500 women, launch their new website mybreastscreening.ca, and promote an associated advocacy and awareness campaign - “Failing Canadian Women” - that amplified the effects of inadequate screening on women’s lives. It reached millions.

Victoria also supported the recent advocacy campaign to review the National Task Force Guidelines on breast cancer which are based on outdated and falsified research. With strategic media releases, this too reached millions and was raised in parliament.

Victoria continues to provide ongoing strategic advice on the matters of government advocacy, organizational strategy and awareness campaigns.

The Impact

“While consultants may be commonplace, Victoria’s deep understanding of how to make an impact is unique and has been significant for Dense Breasts Canada. With her research skillset, strategic mind, and ability to inspire the best of everyone she works with, she really is such an asset to any organization. Her impact on Dense Breasts Canada spreads from research to advocacy, recognizing our impact to maximizing our reach. I am forever grateful to work with her.”
